Perhaps I was a little too ambitious with placing the GoCro as soon as I did. These are wild animals after all and intelligent ones at that. They are likely to be cautious of any new contraptions - let alone ones that are placed in places that they haven't eaten before.
I decided that in order to get them familiar with it, I would simply place it on my sidewalk up to our house. I have fed them with the aluminum tray there before so that part would at least be familiar to them.
So, once I saw that the murder had gathered across the street in a nearby tree, I went out and placed it and whistled at them. Almost immediately, they flew down to my fence to get a better look. After I retreated inside to give them space, they cautiously began to check it out.
Baby steps.
